The U.S. Senate has approved more than $200 million in water projects for Nevada, including nearly $49 million for the Reno-Sparks area, Majority Leader Harry Reid's office said.

The bill authorizes the projects, a required first step in obtaining eventual funding. The distribution will be as follows:

1. Truckee Meadows Water Authority: $29 million to replace the Glendale Dam near the Grand Sierra Resort and shore up the Highland Ditch in northwest Reno.
