FERNLEY--The City of Fernley received a $1 million grant from the Bureau of Reclamation to study the implementation of the Truckee River Operating Agreement, which would give the city an understanding of the full effects of TROA on the city's water resources.

At a previous City Council meeting, councilmen approved two contract services with Turnipseed Engineering, Earth Knowledge Inc., and amended its existing contract with Stanka Consulting Ltd., to implement the study.

City Attorney Paul Taggart and his law firm, Taggart & Taggart will also be involved in the study.

Taggart told the City Count that six months ago, BOR approached the city indicating that the City of Fernley, "doesn't have the resources to equip itself with the water rights issues, with respect to the Truckee River Operating Agreement."
